About TJ MacDonald
Thomas-John MacDonald is the first Market Education Strategist to champion the rights of small and medium business enterprises to enjoy online learning and information communication technologies that large organisations now take for granted.
Being an e-Learning Architect (or webucation architect as some prefer), he is one of a new breed of educator who is both skilled Internet professional and highly trained Learning and Development specialist.
However, unlike most of his peers in big corporations and learning institutions,
TJ MacDonald’s roots are in business and he has a wealth of hands-on experience on the frontline that he continues to use.
Early in life as a newly qualified Risk Management Consultant advising business owners and executives he learned quickly to probe deeply into the needs and condition of any type of enterprise. And to see problems and opportunities those involved in the business were often too close to notice.
Later, during a success-filled sales, management and technical consulting career in industry he learned the power of education as a business development strategy in difficult markets that hate being sold.
He learned he loved helping other people learn, so ‘went back to school’ to be able to pursue this role professionally.
As a Training Consultant, then State Manager of a large private training company he was part of their transformation from vocational training provider to specialist in corporate eLearning services.
He also learned what smaller businesses were missing out on, what they thought they couldn’t afford, and began doing something about it. He started researching the use of online technologies by SME’s for both educational and commercial purposes. In doing so, he discovered that e-learning and e-commerce are inextricably intertwined, that they need to have purpose, and that most smaller businesses need help.
TJ MacDonald now advises entrepreneurial business owners and their sales and marketing executives on marketplace learning strategies for business development.
He is also the principal of a business that creates, hosts and manages online learning and information distribution services for business people who lack the expertise, technolgy or time to undertake this themselves.
He is a member of:
